A group of Tryon Elementary School fifth graders had a chance on Feb. 18 to tour the Furman University campus, watch live sporting events and talk with a Polk County High School alumnus.
Some 50 TES students traveled to Furman for the campus tour. While there, students had the chance to speak with 2015 Polk County High graduate Anthony Marino, now a student at Furman.
The fifth graders also visited the campus planetarium with Dr. David Moffett, an astronomer, toured the baseball training facility with athletics director Mike Buddie and watched a baseball game and a women’s basketball game.
The fifth grade trip to Furman was made possible through a grant from the Polk County Community Foundation.
