Student in Kelly Welch’s third grade class at Tryon Elementary recently made transportation Legos.
At the beginning of the week, class members read a heartwarming story of a little girl who had to leave her mother behind in Vietnam. At the end of the story, the family is reunited in America.
Students imagined what transportation the mother used to travel to her daughter. After writing in journals what that transportation could have been, students had the opportunity to build a model with Legos.
Students were then able to write code to program their finished Lego to move or make noises. Students worked in groups of four. Each group constructed something different – a helicopter, two types of boats and a taxi.
